WhatsApp recently integrated UPI (Unified Payments Interface)-based service into its platform, which allows users to send money through the application. Currently, it is only available for beta testers and now, the brand has introduced a convenient way to send money via WhatsApp.
The company has introduced QR codes through which users can transfer the money with a simple scan. The new feature is only available in the beta version and it is available on 2.18.93 version of the app. However, the payment feature has not been rolled out to all beta users. However, it is important to note that the beta versions are unstable in nature, which in turn results in app crashes and more. So, proceed with caution. So, here’s a step-by-step guide to scan QR codes for transferring money using WhatsApp.
Step 1: Go To Settings > Payments. There you will see an option for New Payments
Step 2: Click on New Payments and you will see two options, Pay with UPI ID and Scan OR code. Tap on QR code to scan and enter the desired amount.
Step 3: Once the scan is complete, the app will ask you for the UPI PIN. Enter the PIN and your payment will be successful. The amount will be deducted from the bank account and it will reach the chosen contact’s account.
WhatsApp will surely be a great beneficiary as it has a user base of close to 200 million and it would be interesting to see whether the company will be able to turn its user base into faithful customers or not.
