Asus ZenFone Ares launched with 8GB RAM and Snapdragon 821 in Taiwan

Asus ZenFone Ares focuses on features like augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). It also includes SonicMaster 3.0 Hi-Res Audio 384 kHz audio decoder and supports DTS Headphone with 7.1 channel support.

Asus has silently launched its new AR and VR-centric smartphone named as Zenfone Ares. The Asus Zenfone Ares is priced at TWD 9,999, which is approximately Rs 23,000. The ZenFone Ares is limited to Taiwan for now and will be available for purchase at select retailers.

The Asus ZenFone Ares comes with specs which are almost identical of Asus ZenFone AR which was launched in India for Rs 49,999 last year. The smartphone in Taiwan is comparatively much cheaper than Zenfone AR price in India. It focuses on features like augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). It also includes SonicMaster 3.0 Hi-Res Audio 384 kHz audio decoder and supports DTS Headphone with 7.1 channel support. The launch was first reported by DealnTech.

The smartphone comes with a 5.7-inch WQHD Super with a screen resolution of 2560×1440 pixels and a standard 16:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the Zenfone Ares packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 coupled with a whopping 8GB of RAM. There is 128GB of internal storage in the phone apart from which it has an expandable storage slot that can hold a micro card of up to 2TB capacity. There is also a fingerprint sensor embedded on to the home button of the smartphone.

The smartphone comes with a 23-megapixel rear camera with high-res PixelMaster 3.0 lens. The camera is capable of motion tracking and depth sensing for the AR effects. It comes with an 8-megapixel front camera with a f/2.0 aperture. The smartphone runs on the 7.0 Nougat and it is backed by a 3,300mAh battery with Quick charge 3.0 for fast charging.

For connectivity, the smartphone has LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, 4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, Type-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It measures 158.67 x 77.4 x 8.95 mm and weighs 170 g.
