the answer is both yes and no.the reason is everyone has a choice in this world so the mobile companies and the service providers always depend upon the taste of their customers and they too analyse that their consumers have choices so the companies will never stop or just update all 2g models to 3g models they will leave choices to their customers by producing both in equal measures so the consumers that is we select our models according to our wish so its totally dependent on the buyers to buy 3g model or a 2g model phone the service providers will never stop their duty and they will be upgrading all their 2g to 3g for sure .so ,the companies do their job and we have to pay them according to our facility that is buy the model which we wish.............

Its not possible for everyone to afford 3g service .its costly.for example near about 70 paisa for video call .whereas min 10 paisa is available for voice call.for net surfing in 2g pack is available near about 7 to 8 times cheaper than 3g .but its reasonable as speed is also 8 to 10 times faster in 3g .in india still now voice is more matter than data.as many people out of reach of internet service. some people always be there to use only voice service .but there must have to be a provision to get 3g service who wants to get this service

2011-05-18 12:49:19

The fact is 2G will remain along with 3G. So there is always a need of 2G handsets. Why handsets makers will upgrade old 2G models to 3G, you must buy new cool 3G phones to enjoy 3G services like high speed internet, video callings, etc etc !

All of us know that BSNL is the only 3G service provider in India. However, we are yet to receive complete 3G coverage in all parts of India. As of now, we have BSNL 3G in select cities. Using 3G internet connection for our mobiles we will be able to the multimedia content more effectively. We will be able to download video content, movies, songs, games etc at a much faster pace. We will also be able to download streaming video without having to wait for hours.
