The new n9 was planned to be featuring MeeGO OS. Nokia had collaborated with intel to bring out the new os all equipped with functionalities and hot shot features but the plans were before the android phenomenon turned the world upside down. Nokia which stood as an undisputed leader in the mobile galaxy with trust worthy handsets, strong os, and an era of astute marketing was facing brutal competition from a nascent baby in the mobile world. The plans were quickly sabotaged and nokia taking the cue found its ideal mate against the battle with google to be google's arch rival microsoft. The plans for meeGO os were sidelined and castles were built of windows7 phone. The os being of microsoft and the good old hardware of nokia. Moreover meego required setting up of separate apps separate interface in short one had to start from scratch and seeing the water already going above their heads nokia decided that it would not only stop meego but also symbian in the recent future and only windows would be its final destination.

Nokia doesn't find any supports from user to form a community for meego powered apps and there is no big market for this. Moreover, Nokia is concentrating in its new OS, symbian Belle and forthcoming windows phone 7 devices, so it could stopped manufacturing Nokia N9.
