Cell phone is one gadget that has become indispensable in daily life of everyone from ordinary street urchin to a very busy executive or a business tycoon. A cell phone, also known as mobile phone in many countries, not just frees one from the clutches of wired phones but also offers mobility using which one can stay connected whether he is driving s car, riding a bike or is in a train or an airplane. From the time in 1979 when 1G cellular services were first launched across the city of Tokyo by NTT to the present 4G, mobile telephony has advanced beyond recognition. Cell phone is not just a device to make and receive calls, it has today become a smartphone that has many features that make life easy and entertaining. Though a smartphone is still basically a cell phone as it performs the function of making and receiving calls, there are many differences between a simple cell phone and a smartphone that will be discussed in this article. However, technology is changing rapidly, and what is today a smartphone may become a simple cell phone tomorrow. • Though there is no clear cut definition of a smartphone adopted by the industry, it is assumed that high end cell phones that have additional features like heavy duty processors (single core and now double core), latest operating systems like iOS and Android, digital cameras with provision for HD video recording, GPS with A-GPS, Wi-Fi802.11b/g/n, DLNA, hotspot, Bluetooth (latest version), and so on, are considered as smartphones. • Smartphones are also basically cell phones but the focus is more on additional capabilities than on making and receiving voice calls.

Cellphones have been around for some time. At first, its only function was to provide people with a means to call and be called anytime without being connected to any line. It eventually evolved and added more features like text messaging. Before the advent of the smartphone, people were often carrying two devices, a cellphone and a Personal Digital Assistant or PDA. The PDA is a digital organizer where users can get a calendar where they can input tasks and appointments and a contact list among other things. The smartphone combined these two devices into one. 1. Smartphones have more advanced capabilities compared to cellphones 2. A smartphone is both a PDA and a cellphone 3. Today’s smartphones have more in common with computers than cellphones 4. Smartphones usually have a touch screen and a full QWERTY keyboard while cellphones come with a regular small screen and a number pad 5. A smartphone uses an operating system that allows third party applications to run on it

In summing up the differences between these common mobile communications devices you could say that a PDA phone is more PDA than phone and a smartphone is more phone than PDA. And, of course, a cellular phone is more phone than anything else.

that's a very good and interesting question. From a corporate perspective, a smartphone should for instance support remote management and offer several layers of security options in order to be regarded as a phone worthy of the "smartphone" label, hence the existence of BlackBerry and Windows Mobile phones. That way, thousands of "work phones" can easily be managed from a centralized solution. In many cases, these phones are also running at maximum security, meaning that a large part of the smart features have been disabled. In other words, the corporate owners of the phones will regard these phones as the smartest out there, while the corporate users may easily find them to be anything but smart. However, from a consumer or individual business perspective, which we primarily focus on here at infoSync, it's without a doubt getting harder to distinguish between cell phones and smartphones. AT&T's Nokia Surge for instance, is a cell phone powered by a smartphone OS, while the same carrier's Apple iPhone is a smartphone that in many cases are powered by a proprietary cell phone OS. For both, there are developer tools that let developers create third-party applications to enhance the given phone. However, while Nokia will let you make the Surge smarter than most smartphones if possible, Apple will not allow you to make the iPhone significantly smarter without violating your contract terms.

Well there is a clean difference a cellphone which is advanced enough to do some other tasks like gaming, office work, internet browsing that too much like desktop not like a mobile, social media, and other things like scanning, photography is called a smartphone. I think I have made it clear enough. So you need to decide which cellphone is smart enough for you. Some may prefer a small Nokia C3 and others may prefer a iPhone 4G.

Unlike traditional cell phones, smartphones let you choose how you want things done. You choose your applications, install them and configure them as you see fit. In contrast, regular cell phones offer the user very little configuration control. You're stuck with the features that come with the phone. For instance, if you don't like your cell phone's calendar feature, you probably can't trade it out for a different one. But with a smartphone, you can pick the exact calendar application that meets your taste and needs.
