The aakash tablet will be available for retail purchase from November end and you can use your own service providers internet if you want with the tablet. It is just for the students version which will have to pay monthly rental for gprs

Aakash is not any damn smartphone!!! That was ridiculous to say Aakash is a smartphone. Its a Tablet PC using the Android 2.2 Fryo OS. Aakash tablet is not having any GPRS connectivity. Its the commercial version of Aakash; i.e, Datawind Ubislate 7 that will have the GPRS support and it will depend on the Mobile Telephony Service Provider whose Subscriber Identity Module u'll use in the Ubislate. The Ubislate7 will also have the facility to use it as a phone which the Aakash will not have unfortunately.

Aircel have tied-up aakash tab which would provide SIM cards which can then be used for accessing the internet through the 3G network.
