HSPDA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) defines the download data transfer rate in a HSPA (Hingh-Speed Packet Access) enabled network. Similarly HSUPA (High-Speed Uplink Packet Access) defines the upload data transfer rate in a HSPA enabled network. Let me also explain what HSPA is ? Basically it is a technology used on the networks based on UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) which enables them to support much higher data transfer rates.Hope you got your answer.

HSUPA an HSDPA are High Speed Uplink Packet access speed and HIgh Speed Downlink Packet Access Speed for a 3G/3.5G phone, they allow much higher internet download speeds. HSDPA download speeed is always more than HSUPA upload speed. In short HSDPA for downloading and browsing HSUPA for uploading and sending mails.

HSDPA (High Speed Down-link Packet Access) is the one that improves the down-link of the data transmission while HSUPA (High Speed Up link Packet Access) is the one that improves the up link or transmission from the mobile device to the network.

They are both pretty much the same thing. The only difference is HSUPA is newer and faster. HSUPA is suppose to have a slightly higher average download speed when doing tasks on the internet. However, the key improvement is upload speeds are faster at max speeds and at average. Not sure how much faster all these speeds are. The faster upload speed is suppose to be nicer for people who have phones with camera for video chatting, where you are sending data to another person(you are also receiving data from the other person). You are also uploading files when sending a picture message, video message or music message.
