The iPhone took the cell phone industry by surprise in 2007, and managed to usurp half of its profits for only three years in active duty, with only 3% of the world's handsets sold. This was mostly at the financial expense of Nokia, which got knocked down from its perch due to some complacency issues, typical of a sprawling empire. Its share of the cell phone industry profits shrunk threefold, and it was even losing money at some point in the epicenter of the financial crisis. The Finns are no doubt willing to reclaim some of this space back, so they began some movers and shakers at the management level, bringing a foreigner at the helm for the first time in Nokia's history. The swan song of the previous management is personalized in the Nokia N8, the current flagship of the company, on which a lot of hopes are placed for a turnaround

The Apple iPhone 4, on the other hand, is the culmination of Apple's efforts to craft an outstanding consumer-friendly device, that will keep people’s attention for a year, before the next iteration is introduced. Apple started a new major design cycle with the iPhone 4, introduced the Retina Display in it, and custom-made one of the fastest smartphone chipsets on the market, making it the most compelling iPhone package so far. Thus the battle lines are drawn, let's see how the two hotties fare against each other.

First of all, let’s face the inconvenient truth that there is no perfect smartphone in this planet, but still we could consider that there is one smartest out there. Both Nokia N8 and iPhone 4 are candidates, so we will see if which part of my lists does Nokia N8 really standout against iPhone 4.

an article which is very usefull for u bro Nokia and Apple have two flagship devices, the N8 and the iPhone 4, coming to the UK very soon – both look good, have strong attributes and a shed-load of features. And while we have very gripes with the iPhone, the Nokia N8 does look like a very promising device and also has some features that the new iPhone 4 is lacking. The Nokia N8, as an added bonus, is also powered by the long-awaited and massively overdue Symbian^3 operating system, which has the potential to be something of a game-changer for Nokia. So, if you’re torn on the two devices, take a look at our spec-check before you part with your hard-earned cash. Screen The Nokia N8’s 360 x 640 pixels 3.5-inch touchscreen is extremely adequate and, as is the case with a lot of Nokia devices, there’s the option to watch videos on your TV via your phone, which is a lovely little touch – and lessens the necessity of having an immaculate screen. According to reports, the N8’s screen is quite impressive, but we’re not convinced it’ll be better than the new iPhone 4’s screen. The iPhone 4, which has an impressive 640 x 960 pixel display, is the same size as the Nokia N8’s. However, Apple has included its highly debated Retina Display technology, which is reported to be very impressive. Overall, it’s difficult to say which is the best but on paper, the iPhone 4, clearly has the edge – both in terms of pixel power and invested technology. Verdict: iPhone 4 Camera Nokia knows how to do cameras, with even its low-end devices usually sporting a 5-megapixel Carl Zeiss camera. And, predictably, the Nokia N8 is no exception to this rule and features a massively powerful 12-megapixel camera and Xenon Flash. In short, the Nokia N8 will take some seriously impressive snaps. The iPhone, whilst sporting a greatly improved camera aspect, only brings 5-megapixels to the table and, while Steve Jobs may tell us its not always all about pixels, we’re hard pressed to see how the iPhone 4’s camera could beat the Nokia N8’s 12-megapixel Carl Zeiss colossus… Plus, there’s also the fact that the Nokia N8 features the largest sensor ever to be put in a mobile device: 1/1.83. Verdict: Nokia N8 Operating System The Nokia N8 is powered by the new Symbian^3 OS and, while it may have ironed out a lot of the niggles, such as constant confirmation requests, it still remains to be seen whether or not it’ll stand tall amongst the Android and, more importantly, iPhone 4s of the world. We still haven’t seen the N8, or indeed Synbian^3 in action yet, but we’re hoping that The Symbian Foundation has come up with some good – or, it could really spell the end for them. We’ve had a good walk through the new iOS4 courtesy of Mr Jobs at the iPhone 4’s keynote speech, which took place on June 7. And, it really does look the business, having multitasking, local notifications, unified email and impressively overhauled UI. We knew Apple wouldn’t disappoint and iOS4, even to the most hardcore Android fan-boys, is a rather impressive development – even for a company of Apple’s stature and reputation. Couple this with Apple’s reputation for creating extremely fast and durable devices and you’re on to a winning formula. Verdict: iPhone 4

sir, It totally depends on how much money you want to spend. Iphone costs 32k-36k (outright purchase). N8 costs 22k. N8 has superior 12 MP auto focus camera with Xenon flash (no other phone camera comes close to it), innovative features as USB On The Go, HD video, HDMI out, DLNA, 720p video play back, Dolby sound, Expandable memory (16 GB built in and you can add 32GB thru microSD card). It has aluminium body with Gorilla glass on front. The only short comming is Internet browser (alternative is Opera Mini/mobile) and UI. Iphone has advantage of sleek looks, excellent UI.

iphone 4 is the best choice

nokia n8 is best ,why see below:: Price One of the biggest advantage of Nokia N8 over the iPhone 4 is the price. With the price tag of €370 euros before taxes and subsidies, and converting it to pounds would give us £300. Comparing to the iPhone 4 (unlocked) 16GB with a price of £499 and £599 for 32GB. Therefore making the Nokia N8 much cheaper for a smartphone with cool multimedia features and especially Symbian^3 os. Design We admit that the iPhone 4 is slimmer, but there are consequences on this, like on the camera performance e.g. zooming and sensor size. For the color variants of Nokia N8, the mass is already have a wide choice for their taste on the color. There are currently 5 anodized casing for N8 the dark grey, silver white, green, blue and orange For the iPhone 4, there are two the white and the black (no pun intended) and obviously I don’t like that my phone is mistakenly identified by others as an iPhone 3GS or iPod touch. Video Call The limitations of Apple facetime for the Wi-Fi connection and iPhone to iPhone is what Nokia already solved and made possible long time ago to their devices. So in N8 you will not be bounded by connections and you will get connected for the video calls in any capable devices HDMI + Dolby Surround Another one few specs that a 2010 smartphone have is the HDMI connection where you can connect to your home theatre. With HD TV you will get a crisp and clear visual treatment as well as with your sound with the Dolby Digital Plus. Memory The Nokia N8 has a 16GB internal storage plus giving you a chance to add an external hot swappable microSD card up to 32GB. USB On-the-Go If 48GB of storage is not enough for you then consider this USB on-the-go feature where you can read and make slave USB sticks from external hard drive like on this 250GB hdd. Usability (Reception issue) If you’re afraid to get a bad reception just because of the phone’s inability to not allow you to have a proper grip, well, isn’t that obvious that this could be one of the biggest mistake that Cupertino company made? Eventhough Nokia N8 isn’t launched yet, we all know that this Finnish giant have more than 1 billion of devices out there and we never have the incidents where people protests just because of the reception issue. Sensor To have the biggest camera sensor in the field of camera phones—and even bigger than the other p&s cameras—means that we are having the right innovations. By the size of the N8 and to its one of a kind features, it really shows that this is an advance feature that Nokia N8 will hold against competitors. Xenon flash It is still a strong advert of manufacturers that LED flash can provide you enough light for taking pictures. But it is still a fact that xenon flash are the one who leads in the technology of flash for compact cameras as well as to mobile phones. What Nokia did is they reduced the size of the flash to 30% less compare to Nokia N82 & without losing the power. Editing software & Ovi Maps are free (Symbian^3) If you’re phone has an HD capable video recording and Symbian^3 on N8 has an on-board video editor and without pulling some extra bucks from your pocket, of course. The same on Ovi Maps, neither we need a connection nor we would pay for it. That is really the magic of Nokia, bringing us connected anywhere and anytime.

You should go for Nokia N8. You can compare it.Also, the nokia N8 is better because of the ovi store and cheap application and games.

You will go for apple iphone 4 because both hardware and software of iphone 4 is better than nokia n8 .apple iphone 4 uses retina display which is more better than nokia amoled display. sharpness is good on iphone 4.but iphone doesnot support extandable while nokia n8 support 32 gb.the screen size will be same for both of the cases.i prefer that you go for iphone 4
