Pantel Technologies' Penta T-Pad Ultra WS704Q 4G was launched sometime back at Rs 6,999. The tablet is available on Homeshop18 and Grabthefuture and comes in Blue, Red and Grey colors. The company is offering a flip cover and a keyboard for free with the tablet.

Penta T-Pad Ultra

Penta T-Pad Ultra 4G features a 7-inch IPS display with 1024x600 pixels resolution. It is powered with 1 GHz quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM. The tablet runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system and backed by 3000 mAh non removable battery.

Penta T-Pad Ultra

The tablet come with 8 GB of internal storage which is further expandable via micro SD card. The Penta T-Pad Ultra 4G sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front camera. Besides, it comes with Dual SIM (4G+3G/2G), Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, OTG, and Micro-USB.

Design

The tablet comes in attractive colours. For review, we got the blue colour one which was really cute. The back panel has a glossy finish but it feels quite smooth and is not slippery. For a 7 inch device it is quite compact and is easily operable. If you want, you can use this tablet for calling purposes and won't look weird.

Penta T-Pad Ultra

In the T-Pad Ultra, the micro SD card and two SIM slots are located under the back panel. But note that not the whole rear panel is removable. Only the top portion that covers the rear camera as well, is removable. The volume rocker and the power button are located on the right hand side while the audio jack and micro USB ports are at the top.

Overall, the Penta T-Pad Ultra is a decent looking tablet which is comfortable to use also.

Display

The tablet has a 7 inch screen and has 1024x600 pixels resolution which is quite common to tablets under Rs 7,000. This much resolution is just enough and manages to produce colours quite fine. Ofcourse if you have used any high end smartphone or tablet with higher resolution, say full HD, you will know the difference but otherwise you won't notice anything. The brightness is fine for indoors but you cannot operate it under bright sunlight. Touch response was find too.

Performance

The Penta T-Pad Ultra 4G comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system which is commendable. The interface is pretty basic and has not customisation which infact is much better as customised UIs put more pressure on system resources and slow it down.

Penta T-Pad Ultra

The tablet has a 1 GHz quad core processor and 1 GB RAM. The combination is okay for normal games like Subway Surfer and even the graphics heavy Dear Hunter 2016 version but don't expect much from this tablet. Infact, while playing Dear Hunter, if you wish to have a gaming tablet then look further. Infact, at the time of writing I stumbled upon the Xolo Tegra Note which is a much better gaming tablet and is available for just Rs 6,999.

Penta T-Pad Ultra

Another positive aspect of the tablet is its battery performance. Its 3000 mAh non removable battery's standby time is especially quite good. Even with one active SIM card, it manages to hold on to the charge for days as promised by the company (the company promises 158 hours or 6 days 14 hours). As far as standby is concerned, you would get about six hours with medium usage that involves WiFi connectivity and one active SIM card. So you must have a power bank or charging facility always with you.

Penta T-Pad Ultra

In terms of connectivity, the tablet is quite rich with 4G connectivity, WiFi, Bluetooth and micro USB port. As I said earlier, it has two SIM card slots using which you can make voice calls and send SMSes. For such an affordable tablet, its storage facility is quite decent too with 8 GB of internal space and a 32 GB micro SD card slot.

The Penta T-Pad Ultra 4G also comes with an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera. The rear camera is decent while the front camera is not too bad for video calls but not that great for selfies. Don't have high expectations from its rear camera, it is useful but not good enough like many smartphones available at its price.

Verdict
The Penta T-Pad Ultra 4G is a decent tablet in terms of connectivity. It is also among few tablets below Rs 7,000 to come with Android Lollipop operating system. In storage department it doesn't disappoint either. However, if you are looking for a gaming tablet or a device for its camera capability, this is not the device for you. Basically it is a jack of all trades but master of none.
