Like its elder brother, the U Play also sports the same ‘liquid surface’ design at the back, which gives a distinct when put under different lighting situations.
The company has ditched the 3.5mm Audio Jack in favour of USB-C connector and a new feature known as HTC USonic, which analyses your inner ears with a sonar-like pulse.
The device comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD display with a screen Resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.
The smartphone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 Processor and is backed by a 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage which can be further expanded up to 2TB via micro SD card slot.
On the camera front, the device is equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera with BSI sensor, OIS, PDAF and f2/2.0 aperture, while for the front there is a 16-megapixel front shooter with f/2.0 aperture, 28mm focal length.
The device runs on latest Android 7.0 Nougat and is powered by a 2500 mAh battery with Fast charging support.
On the connectivity front, the device support 4G LTE, GPS, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi, NFC, DLNA, Miracast, HTC Connect and USB 2.0 Type-C.

HTC has skipped the 3.5 mm Headphone jack on the HTC U Play and instead have gone for a USB Type-C port for both charging and headphones.
On the connectivity front, the device support 4G LTE, GPS, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi, NFC, DLNA, Miracast, HTC Connect and USB 2.0 Type-C.

HTC’s Sense Companion is also here but it doesn’t come pre-installed on the U Play. The company will soon roll out an update which will enable the AI-based assistant.
