ZTE Era smartphone with Android 4.0 unveiled

ZTE has launched eight Android OS based devices and pair of Windows Phone smartphones at the on-going Mobile World Congress.

ZTE Corporation has introduced seven OS based and two Windows Phone 7.x based smartphones at the Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona, Spain. Among the newsly introduced devices include ZTE’s first quad-core based Android OS based smartphone – Era.

The Windows Phone based devices include ZTE Tania and ZTA Orbit. While the Android OS based ZTE devices include Era, Mimosa X, Blade II, Skate Aqua, Kis, PF112 HD, N91 and PF 200 along with four Android tablets.

The Mobile Indian earlier reported about the ZTE Mimosa X smartphone that arrives with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This smartphone comes with dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 mobile processor, and features 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen display. There’s a 5 megapixel camera at the back and a front facing 0.3 pixels.

Following that, ZTE has unveiled the new 7.8mm thickness bearing Era smartphone that features a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 mobile processor and runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This smartphone features Nvidia Icera 450 promising maximum possible data network speeds.

The ZTA Era has a 4.3-inch touchscreen display with qHD (960×540) pixel resolution. This smartphone will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and will debut the ZTE MiFavour user interface. ZTE Era is expected to launch in Europe and China by the second half of this year.

Along with that, ZTE has also announced its first network supporting Android smartphones – ZTE N91 and ZTE PF200. The former one – N91 comes with a dual-core 1.2 GHz mobile processor and features 4.3-inch WVGA (480×800) pixel display as well as 5 megapixel camera.

Meanwhile the ZTE PF200 features 4.3-inch display with qHD (940×540) resolution support, a dual-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 1 RAM and 8 megapixel camera. Both smartphones will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with ZTE MiFavour user interface layered on top of it.

The ZTE PF112 features 4.5-inch touchscreen display with 720p HD native resolution and will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update. This Triband HSPA+ supporting smartphone will possess an 8 megapixel camera capable or recording 1080p HD video and a front facing camera for video call. Along with that the smartphone will feature Dolby Digital Mobile module for better audio output.

For the European region, ZTE has also announced the entry level to mid-range Android OS based smartphones – Skate Aqua, Kis, and the Blade II.

Along with these smartphones, ZTE has also unveiled four new tablets out of which two tablets – PF100 and T98, with quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 mobile processor housed. The ZTE PF100 tablet comes with 10.1-inch touchscreen WXGA (1280×768) display, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Nvidia Icera 450 modem. This tablet has 1 GB RAM and features 5 megapixel camera at the back.

The ZTE T98 tablet is the 7-inch version of the PF100 albeit with TD-SCDMA network support, which is a type of CDMA technology and is developed by China. The Mobile Indian reported about the same tablet back in September 2011.

The ZTE V9S tablet has a 10.1-inch touchscreen display and will have a dual-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm processor with 1 GB RAM and 16 GB on-board storage. This tablet will come with Android 3.2 Honeycomb and will be able to connect with GSM as well as UMTS networks.

Yet another high end tablet ZTE V96 runs a dual-core Qualcomm processor clocked at 1.7 GHz and has Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This is the LTE Network supporting tablet which will also feature 1 GB RAM, 16 GB on-board storage and 5 megapixel camera. Mostly aimed for the US markets, these tablets are expected to arrive in the second quarter of this year.

The Windows Phone Pair

ZTE has unveiled two Windows Phone operating system based smartphones including the ZTE Tania and ZTE Orbit. Both are budget phones with Windows Phone 7.5 Operating system and have similar specifications.

The ZTE Orbit features a 4-inch touchscreen display with WVGA 480×800 pixel resolution support. Housing a single-core 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon mobile processor, ZTE Orbit has 512 RAM and 4 GB on-board storage. Featuring a 5 megapixel camera with as well as Flash, the smartphone also supports HD voice. The ZTE Orbit will be made available in major markets around the world in the second quarter of 2012.

Meanwhile the ZTE Tania carries similar features with 4.3-inch touchscreen display and measure just 10.7 mm thick, supporting the WVGA 480×800 pixel resolution by default. The Tania has 1 GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 mobile processor with 512 MB RAM and 4 GB on-board storage. It features a 5 megapixel camera with capability to shoot 720p HD video at 30 frames per second.

Unfortunately, this phone doesn’t feature a storage card slot which is quite surprising but also the reason for being an affordable model. This smartphone will be available as early as April in the UK region and later for rest of the world.

ZTE has introduced quite a handsome amount of devices for this year and is showing the prowess to compete with the leading champions (handset makers) on the Android as well as the Windows Phone market.
