Tengi, a WhatsApp alternative that pays for chatting, launched in India

Tengi can be downloaded on iOS and Android platforms via the app stores.

A new application, Tengi has been launched in India. As per the makers of the app, Tengi will give its users at least half of its ad revenues every week in the form of cash prizes.

All users have to do is use the to get tickets to enter into the prize draw. They can receive tickets in a variety of ways. They collect 16 tickets every time a phone contact joins Tengi, 2 tickets when one of their friends win, 1 ticket for each day the user uses the app, 12 tickets for each hour spent chatting on the app and 1 ticket per draw for keeping the app installed.

In this way, it’s easy for users to acquire tickets for the regular Friday night draws. Randomly winners will be chosen and the prizes range from Rs 10, 00,000 to Rs 450. So the more tickets a user gets during the week, the more chance the person has to win in the prize draw.

Tengi is free to download and use which allows users to send texts, emoticons, location, voice messages, photo, video and audio messages as well as sending notifications when the message has been delivered and read. Using Tengi, users can set up group chats with friends and family. It also allows users to add their Facebook friends on Tengi even without having their phone number in their contacts list.
