Tablets launched in India in February 2013

11 tablets were launched last month in India in various price brackets. Here is a list of them.

Last month, many device manufacturers have launched their tablets in the Indian market. Below is a list of the tablets launched in India in the month of February.

Asus Memo Pad:

The Asus MeMO Pad ME172V is an 4.1 Jelly Bean tablet and comes with a 7-inch Twisted Nematic (TN) display with a resolution of 1024×600 (169 PPI), 10 finger multi- touch function and wide viewing angle.

The tablet has up to 7 hours of claimed battery life. It has a front facing HD camera that can take high definition videos (720p) at 30 frames per second. The camera of Memo Pad comes with f/2.0 that helps it to capture more light. It comes with inbuilt memory of 8 and a micro-SD slot that supports up to 32 GB extra storage. Asus has packed a 1 GHz VIA WM8950 mobile paired with Mali-400 graphics chip and 1 GB RAM.

The tablet is available in Sugar White, Titanium Gray and Cherry Pink colours and comes with a non-slip diamond-patterned finish. For more information on this tablet, click here.

Dell Latitude 10 Enhanced Security

Dell announced a new version of its Latitude 10 tablet, called as the Dell Latitude 10 Enhanced Security. This tablet comes with upgraded features and security measures such as 128 GB of storage against 64 GB of Latitude 10.

Like the other, Latitude 10 Enhanced Security tablet comes with dual core Intel Atom Z2760 processor and comes with 2 GB RAM, Windows 8 operating system, 2 front camera, and an 8 megapixel rear camera with flash.

For connectivity, Dell Latitude 10 Enhanced Security comes with a full-size USB 2.0, Full-size SD reader, docking connector, stereo headphone/microphone combo jack, micro-USB charging port, and a mini-HDMI port.

HCL

Last month, HCL launched three tablets, including a dual tablet called ME Y3. The other two tablets are called HCL ME V1 and HCL ME U2. All the three tablets are based on Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system and have a 7 inch screen with 1 GHz processor. The basic difference is their connectivity options.

While the ME Y3 is a dual SIM tablet, the HCL V1 has only a single SIM slot. The U2 is a WiFi-only tablet but can access through a USB data dongle. In V1, one can also use a dongle to access 3G apart from the internet access through its SIM card. In Y3 there is no dongle support.

Salora tablets

Salora, which hit the smartphone market with a bang with its first handset called PowerMaxx Z1 earlier this year, has also announced its first tablet in February.

Infact, Salora launched two tablets, called Salora Pro tab and Salora Pro Tab HD for Rs 4,999 and Rs 5,499 respectively. Both tablets come with 7 inch displays, WiFi, 4 GB inbuilt memory, a 3200 battery and 0.3 megapixel camera in the front. None of the two tablets come with a rear camera. The cheaper Salora Pro tab runs on Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich operating system while the Salora Pro Tab HD is based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Salora Pro Tab has a 1.5 GHz dual core processor coupled with 512 RAM and has a 0.3 megapixel front camera, and 3200 mAh battery. The tablet comes with inbuilt memory of 4 GB. The display of this tablet supports WVGA 800 x 480 pixel resolution. Salora Pro Tab HD, on the other hand, supports better resolution of 1280 x 600 pixel and also gets a better 1 GB RAM, but only a 1.2 GHz processor. Given that it has better RAM and Android Jelly Bean performance should be appreciably better and the display resolution is also much higher.

Lava etab Xtron:

This 7 inch tablet is based on Android v4.1.1 Jelly Bean operating system and runs on a 1.5 GHz dual core processor, quad core graphics processor and 1 GB RAM. The tablet also has a 2 megapixel front camera.

Lava etab Xtron comes with a 7 inch IPS display with healthy 1024×600 pixels resolution, which means that the tablet has 178 degree viewing angle. Etab Xtron, though has 8 GB of of which 5 GB is usable, has expandable storage capacity of 32 GB via a micro SD card.

The phone is WiFi only and has a 3500 mAh battery. The tablet however misses out on HDMI port and a full USB port which we believe has been done to ensure that tablet remains slim, there is no clarity on whether it supports 3G via dongle (which we think it will) or not.

Simmtronics XPad X1010

It features a 10.1 inch display with 5 point touch and a healthy 1024 x 600 pixel resolution. For a smoother performance, the tablet has a 1.2 GHz Cortex-A8, dual core Mali 400 graphics processor and 1 GB RAM. XPad X1010 has 8 GB of internal memory and supports up to 32 GB of expandable memory. The tablet also comes with a camera in the front for video chat but doesn’t have a rear camera.

Simmtronics has put a 5600 mAh Lithium polymer battery with claimed 150 hours of back up and six hours of internet browsing time. For connectivity, the tablet also offers WiFi and HDMi and support 3G via dongle. XPad X1010 weighs 610 grams and is 10.5mm thick which is good.

Go Tech FunTab 2G Talk

Go Tech, a relatively lesser known brand in India, has announced this SIM calling tablet last month. It comes with a 2 megapixel rear camera, VGA front camera, 512 DDRIII RAM, internal memory of 4 GB and expandable memory slot for up to 32 GB. The tablet supports USB flash drive and has a 3000 mAh battery. On the connectivity front, it supports 3G and WiFi.

Funtab has Boxchip A13 Cortex A8 1.2 GHz processor that also supports voice calling and comes with pre-loaded applications like BookMyShow, cricket info , Indian Railways information; King soft Office Andebuddy Messenger.

Champion Wtab 705 Talk

Priced at Rs 6,300, this tablet comes loaded with Android 4.0, and a 7 inch display with 480 x 800 pixels resolution.

The Wtab 705 talk is powered by Cortex A8 1.5 GHz processor coupled with 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal storage. It also supports expandable memory up to 32 GB. The tablet weighs 320 grams. Wtab 705 Talk features a SIM card slot and voice calling support (2G Built-in). However for 3G connectivity, you need to use a dingle.

Champion Computers also has the Wtab 7.2 and Wtab 7.3 (WiFi only models), Wtab 7.4 (3G Model) and Wtab 971 with 9.7 inch display.
