Phicomm Energy 653 with 4G launched at Rs 4,999

At Rs 4,999, the Phicomm Energy 653 now shares the 'cheapest 4G phone' tag with the ZTE Blade Qlux 4G.

Phicomm, a Chinese handset maker which entered Indian earlier in June this year, has announced the launch of a new smartphone with 4G capability. The new handset, called as Phicomm Energy 653, has a price tag of Rs 4,999.

This smartphone has a 5 inch IPS display with 1280 x 720 pixels and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor. It offers an 8 -megapixel rear-facing camera with flash, Backside Illumination Sensor, and F/2.4 for better low-light photography. It has a 2 – megapixel front-facing camera. The smartphone is based on Lollipop operating system and has Phicomm’s own EXPECT 5.0 UI.

“Phicomm Energy 653 is our second smartphone to release in India. PHICOMM’s strong in-house research and development team have created a powerful device exclusively for the Indian consumer” said Zheng Min – chief executive officer of Phicomm.

“By market analysis and comparing consumer needs in India PHICOMM has built the Energy 653 to allow consumers to experience an robust smartphone for larger interactive and viewing experience,” Zheng further added.

The handset has hardware decoder, which the company claims: “ensures cinema level graphic display and an unmatched video experience in the category. The hardware is built around adaptive streaming protocols with optimized rate adaptation so you can stream easily with less video stalls even in video quality. It provides 50% better video compression for the same visual quality vs. H.264.”

Besides, the Phicomm Energy 653 has 64GB Micro-SD card slot, a 2300 battery, WiFi, and two micro slots. This 8mm sleek smartphone has a rubber textured back surface and is available in black and white.

Phicomm Energy 653 will be made available exclusively on Amazon.in starting 11 August 2015.

Cheapest 4G?

At Rs 4,999, the Phicomm Energy 653 now shares the ‘cheapest 4G phone’ tag with the ZTE Blade Qlux 4G which was launched in the Indian market in July.

The Qlux 4G is armed with a 4.5 inch IPS display, the handset is powered by MediaTek MTK6732M 1.3 GHz Quad Core and 1 RAM.

It has an 8 megapixel rear camera with and LED flash and a 5 MP front camera. The handset has a 2200 mAh battery that claims to offer 12 hours of talk time and 250 hours of stand-by time. The Blade Qlux 4G promises offers proximity, ambient light along with an accelerometer.

Blade Qlux has 8 GB of which is expandable to up to 32GB. This Android KitKat smartphone is upgradable to Android Lollipop. The smartphone also offers 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Micro-USB, and Bluetooth.
