Oppo to introduce a new ‘5x’ smartphone photography technology at MWC 2017

For the photography, Oppo last year introduced its ‘Selfie Expert’ F-series of smartphones which did unprecedentedly well in a country like India.

After grounding a solid name in smartphone photography game, OPPO Mobiles is now set to unveil a new ‘5x’ smartphone photography technology to help users capture high-quality detailed images. Oppo has been one of the prime players in the Chinese market for a long time now and has also managed to take the second spot in India’s offline smartphone market.

For the photography, Oppo last year introduced its ‘Selfie Expert’ F-series of smartphones which did unprecedentedly well in a country like India. Oppo claims that the F1 Plus smartphone was company’s first device which packed a 16-megapixel front camera. In the same year, OPPO worked with Sony to co-develop the customised 1/2.8-inch IMX398 sensor for the R9s.The journey in this photography game began back in 2012 when the Chinese handset manufacturer brought in the trend of beautification of selfie pictures. In fact, Oppo was the first one to bring the in-built beauty mode for selfies which was immediately accepted and followed by other OEMs as well.

While the company has managed to up the game in photography, Oppo also introduced its new VOOC Flash Charge technology last year at MWC 2016. Now, Oppo claimed that with Super VOOC Flash Charge one could get about 10 hours of in just five minutes, however, in reality, the technology never made it to Oppo smartphones. We might be presuming here, but Oppo’s past records of implementing a new technology have been a mixed bag, in our opinion.

Commenting on the new technology, Oppo’s Vice President and MD of International Mobile Business & President of Oppo India, Sky Li said – “OPPO’s relentless pursuit of perfection without compromise has given birth to a remarkable technological breakthrough that will change how the world perceives smartphone photography.”

Ignoring what went through with VOOC Flash Charge, we hope Oppo can bring out something interesting at the upcoming MWC 2017 event.
