In an attempt to unify different pricing for different packs across 2G, 3G and 4G networks, Idea has today announced that by the end of March 2017, the telecom operator will charge one single price for 1GB Mobile Data or above irrespective of whether it’s operating on 2G, 3G or 4G network. Idea claims that this will ensure less confusion and will pose better clarity in users mind.
Justifying this move, Sashi Shankar, Chief Marketing Officer, Idea Cellular, “Idea’s simplified data pricing will ensure data recharges across all technologies are available at the same price point. The customer can choose the recharge price basis usage and volume available in the pack, without having to worry about the platform the customer’s device is logged in.”
Aditya Birla Group, which is the parent company of Idea Cellular, is reportedly in talks with Vodafone India for a possible merger to take up the telecom game in India.
