Google just launched its two new smartphones- Pixel and Pixel XL, which were received well by analysts world over. And if you are eager to get your hands on this new Google smartphone, here is more reasons to cheer for. Reportedly both the Pixel and Pixel XL (Google simply calls it Pixel 5.5 inch) are dust and water resistant.

Curiously, Google didn’t talk about it during the launch event and perhaps there was a reason for that.

As per a report of Droid Life, Google’s Pixel and Pixel XL have received IP53 rating for water and dust resistant. IP53 is considered an average rating which means Google Pixel devices can stand against a little dust and water drizzle. So one should not go out taking this phone in rain or even in shower.

To be more precise, IP53 certifications states “Dust Protected” (5) category for solids, which means dust isn’t “entirely prevented,” but unless massive amounts of it enter your phone, it should be fine. As for liquids, the Pixel falls under the “Spraying water” (3) category, which means they are safe from “Water falling as a spray at any angle up to 60° from the vertical shall have no harmful effect.”

To compare, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus comes with dust and water resistant rating which means the device is entirely protected against dust or immersion in liquids between 15 centimetres to 1 meters. On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy S7 and Note 7 comes with even better certification. Well, Google Pixel is already an amazing smartphone and this certification would only add to the already listed reasons to buy the smartphone which is from Google and made by Google.

Google Pixel comes with 5 inch 1080p AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset, Adreno 530 GPU, 4GB and 32GB/128GB internal storage. The camera is 12 at the back and 8 megapixel at front. Pixel XL on the other hand, sports a larger 5.5 inch Quad display with a larger battery of 3450 compared to 2770 mAh battery in Pixel. The devices will be available in India Rs 57,000 onwards.

Will the IP53 certification make any difference in sales? Let us know in the comment section below.
