Google Pixel is getting a warm reception from consumers

Despite coming with a hefty price tag, people in India as well as across the globe are buying the device.

Seems like Google is on the roll with its devices. Despite coming with a hefty price tag, people in India as well as across the globe are buying the device. Though it could have played a part, but crediting the Note 7 discontinuation for the success of Google Pixel would be unfair. Google Pixel and Pixel XL are both one of the best smartphones ever to be made by Google with top notch specifications and design.

Complementing the success, Yesterday, a report by Counterpoint Research revealed that Google Pixel smartphones have already grabbed about 10 percent share of the premium smartphone market in India last month. Considering the price tag of Rs 57,000, this came as a surprise. However, the report claimed that Apple is still the premium smartphone king with about 66 percent share followed by Samsung at 23 percent share. These results can surely be attributed to Google’s huge budgets spent on advertisements which have been flooded on the internet. Regarding the shipments, about 33,000 units of Google Pixel were shipped just by the end of October even though it went on Sale on October 25 in India.

Further, today a fresh report from Morgan Stanley estimates that Pixel will generate a revenue of almost $4 billion ($3.8 billion to be exact) in the financial year 2017. For the global shipments, the report claimed that about 5-6 million units are expected to be sold next. Further, when talking about the profitability, the report from Morgan Stanley revealed that compared to Apple’s iPhone, Pixel will be half as profitable to Google. For the comparison, Apple sold about 45.5 million iPhones in the last quarter. Moreover, to put into figures, where Apple is expected to earn a profit margin of around 41 percent, Pixel will earn a profit margin of about 22-25 percent. This is mainly because of the high-cost internals on the Pixel devices as compared to Apple iPhone 7.

Yet, Google Pixel seems to be a hit at least in terms of sales. When Google revealed the Pixel and Pixel XL back in October, it was certain that the search engine giant in eyeing Apple’s iPhone this time, ditching the mid-range segment.
