Faceoff: Kult 10 vs Lenovo Vibe P1m

Lenovo Vibe P1m has a huge battery but the Kult 10 offers much more for Rs 7,999.

Kult earlier this month entered the Indian market in the best way possible – with the Kult 10 which at Rs 7,999 is India’s cheapest phone with 3 RAM. But in its front lies the Lenovo Vibe P1m which is also priced at Rs 7,999 and is known for its huge battery life. So which one should you pick?

We have compared the two phones here to find out its answer.

Design

The Lenovo Vibe P1m has a matte finish plastic back panel with faux aluminium finish side panels. The rear camera has a small metal plate around it which definitely adds to its charm. The back cover though has been termed by some as “cheap” looking but its overall build quality was hailed as decent. The Lenovo Vibe P1m is thick (dimension: 141 x 71.8 x 9.3 mm) and is heavy (148 grams) as well but that is due to its huge battery.

The Kult 10 too has a plastic back panel but it has sandstone finish which reminded us of OnePlus but don’t expect similar build. A white version with a smooth back panel is also available. The Kult 10 is lighter (128 grams) and measures 143 x 70.3 x 7.6 mm.

Both these phones are nice looking, but the slim and small package of the Kult 10 might appeal to some of you, over the slightly larger Lenovo Vibe P1m.

Display

The Kult 10 has a 5 inch IPS display with a of 720 x 1280 pixels, and has Asahi Dragon Trail Glass for protection. The Lenovo Vibe P1m too has a 5 inch IPS display.

Both these screens are alike, in size and resolution, but the Kult 10 wins when it comes to protection. However, we recommend that you invest in a tempered glass.

Processor & Memory

The Lenovo Vibe P1m has the MediaTek MT6735P, a 64-bit quad-core clocked at 1.0 GHz, with 2 GB of RAM. The internal storage stands at 16 GB to which you can add another 32 GB via a card.

The Kult 10 too has a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor which also runs with 3 GB of RAM. The internal storage stands at 16 GB to which you can add another 128 GB via a microSD card.

Obviously our vote goes for the Kult 10 as it has a faster processor, more RAM as well as higher expandable storage facility.

Software

Both these phones run on Lollipop (5.1), and have mild customisations on the UI. Kult has promised an upgrade to Android Marshmallow (without a date) which definitely tilts the balance in its favour.

Battery

Here’s the Lenovo Vibe P1m wins hands down as it has a 3900 battery which can provide up to 16 hours of or 20 days of standby while the Kult 10 has a meager 2350 mAh battery.

Camera

The Lenovo Vibe P1m has an 8 primary camera with autofocus, video recording, and flash. In the front of the phone lies a 5 megapixel selfie taker.

The Kult 10 has a 13 megapixel primary camera with phase detection auto-focus, Isocell, an of f/2.2, HDR, panorama, anti-shake, burst shot, smile detection, smile and gesture capture, manual focus and exposure controls and, video recording at 1080p, and flash. The front of the Kult 10 has a 5 megapixel selfie taker too.

Spec for spec, the Kult 10 wins this round with ease; however we usually wait for a real world test to declare a winner.

Connectivity

The Kult 10 is a phone with GPS (A-GPS), 4.0, and WiFi. However, the second SIM slot is a hybrid one, where you can either have a SIM or a microSD card.

The Lenovo Vibe P1m is also a dual-SIM 4G phone with GPS (A-GPS), Bluetooth, and WiFi.

Wrapping up

The Kult 10, for exactly the same price, offers a better display and processor, higher RAM and storage, a better camera, and a guaranteed upgrade to Android M. The only plus point of the Lenovo Vibe P1m is the battery, that is 1550 mAh larger. Ofcourse the Vibe P1m has a better brand value as well.
