Ever since a surprise re-entry into the TV segment through an exclusively online presence in 2015, the erstwhile market leader has continued to surprise.
BPL Televisions have unveiled its brand new 43-inch 4K TV, giving them a presence in a key, and most competitive segment in India. With this launch, one assumes that the comeback for the storied brand has met expectations, though the online only presence continues to intrigue. The return of another brand from BPL's heydays, the Japanese brand Sanyo, will only reinforce the nostalgia for the slightly older yet higher income audience today that saw both these brands fight hard a few years back.
The TV comes with 4K Ultra HD resolution of 3840 x 2160 and BPL's proprietary user interface that offers built in Youtube, Netflix and other social media plugins. The TV also offers Direct LED (DLED).
BPL India Chairman, Mr Ajit Nambiar said "This marks the entry of BPL's brand new Stellar collection which will soon have an entire portfolio of smart televisions in various sizes. BPL in the earlier avatar was synonymous with customer satisfaction, outstanding performance and more importantly innovation. We are working hard on few ideas that may alter TV viewing experience. The Stellar collection will bring a few surprises in the larger television sizes and I certainly look forward to it"
The user interface and WIFI capabilities have been built on the Linux operating system. Other features include 4 HDMI ports, 3 USB 3.0 ports with a headphone jack that enables you to watch your television privately, and quietly.
Priced at Rs 39,990, like its recent models, the TV is exclusive on Flipkart. Currently the 43' 4K TV is the only model available under the Stellar series with larger sizes poised to launch early January.
BPL had marked its comeback last year with its first set of "Vivid" LED televisions in India and claims that it has sold over 70,000 television sets in the first year. The brand continues to have high recall, especially with the 35+ generation of users .
Readers might have noticed another more recent and well known brand making a comaback recently, the Japanese brand Sanyo, which is being promoted heavily on Amazon right now.
The inaugural offer on Flipkart offers a 5% discount on all Axis Bank Buzz Credit Card holders.
