ASUS ZenWatch 3 with Android Wear announced, up for pre-order on Flipkart

While the Gunmetal variant is priced at Rs 18,999, the Silver variant is priced at Rs 17,599.

After making the Zenfone 3 Max 5.5 (ZC553KL) available in India earlier this week, ASUS has now launched ASUS ZenWatch 3 in India available exclusively on Flipkart. The smartwatch comes in two variants, one with the Gunmetal Casing and Leather strap priced at Rs 18,999 and another one with the Silver casing and Rubber strap priced at Rs 17,599. Both the variants will be available for pre-order starting today i.e. December 23rd 2016. Another variant with a Gunmetal casing and Rubber strap will be available in January 2017.

ASUS ZenWatch 3

Jumping straight into the technical specifications, the new ZenWatch 3 runs on Wear platform and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 2100 chipset. Boasting a 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage, the smartwatch is compatible with both Android and iOS devices. For the display, ASUS has given in a 1.39inch with a resolution of 400 x 400 pixels. The ZenWatch 3 supports 4.1, Wi-Fi and comes with built-in microphone for call and messaging. There is a 340 mAh battery inside which supports quick-charge which ASUS claims can charge the smartwatch up to 60 percent in just 15 minutes. Moreover, the smartwatch comes with a snap on magnetic charger. Further, the smartwatch comes with water resistance certifications and houses a 6-axis (G+A) and ambient light sensor for tracking physical activities.

For the design, the new ZenWatch 3 is built from jewelry-grade 316L stainless steel which is 82 percent stronger than conventional steel, claims ASUS. The watch’s casing is round and comes with a diameter of just less than 45mm and is about 9.95 mm thick. Taking care of the customization, ASUS has provided with 50 software watch faces to choose from and can be changed easily using the ZenWatch Manager smartphone app. Not only this, many of the watch faces also comes with customizable widgets which further adds to the information displayed on the watch. If that’s enough for you, the FaceDesigner smartphone can help you create your own customized watch-face. Adding more to it, the top crown button can be assigned a customized action.

Coming to the fitness part, the new ZenFit app can automatically count wearers’ steps throughout the day with 95 percent accuracy, and can also provide reminders to move after periods of inactivity. Apart from counting steps, the new ZenFit app can also track a range of activities such as walking, running, push-ups, sit-ups.
