Asus ZenFone 3 Max gets Jio ready with OTA update

Asus Zenfone 3 Max was launched in India last year in November.

Asus has rolled out a software update for ZenFone 3 Max (ZC520TL) which will bring VoLTE support to the smartphone in India. The new software update will make the smartphone compatible with Jio’s network and VoLTE calling service. Since the update is being rolled out over-the-air, it may take some time before it comes to your device. One can also manually check for the update by going to Settings ->About Phone -> Software Update. The OTA update is about102MB in size.

The update comes with a version number 13.0.2.4013.1.1.33 and brings the some features to the device after the update which includes Improve Camera performance, Improve system stability, Add Reliance VOLTE (India) and Add SOS call (India). After recent complaints about no VoLTE support, this move will surely make ZenFone 3 Max users happy as they will now be able to avail free voice and data service offered by Jio until March 31, 2017.

To recall, Asus Zenfone 3 Max was launched in India last year in November. The smartphone comes in two different variants- Zenfone 3 Max (ZC520TL) priced at Rs 12,999 and Zenfone 3 Max (ZC553KL).

Asus Zenfone 3 Max (ZC553KL)

The USP of this smartphone is its powerful 4,100 non-removable battery, which claims to deliver up-to 38 days of standby time and 17 hours of VoIP talk time on network. It also supports reverse charging, which can be double up as a power bank to charge other devices.

Asus Zenfone 3 Max (ZC553KL) has a has metal unibody design and features a 5.5-inch full (1080p) 2.5D curved glass display. It comes equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core 64-bit processor clocked at 1.4GHz, along with Adreno 505 GPU. Zenfone 3 Max (ZC553KL) comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal memory, which can be further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. The smartphone runs on 6.0.1 Marshmallow wrapped under ZenUI 3.0 OS.

The Asus Zenfone 3 Max (ZC553KL) flaunts a 16-megapixel primary shooter with PDAF, laser autofocus, f/2.0 aperture, Dual flash, and a 8-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video chats. The camera features include Backlight HDR mode, Low Light mode, Selfie mode, Panorama mode, Beautification, and Time Lapse effect modes.

The smartphone also houses a fingerprint scanner, which is placed on its back panel. The company claims the fingerprint scanner can unlock the phone is just 0.3 sec. Besides, the Zenfone 3 Max (ZC553KL) offers Hybrid Dual SIM, with VoLTE, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), WiFi Direct, WiFi hotspot, 4.1, GPS/AGPS, OTG support, ICEpower enhanced Mono Loudspeaker and Dual Microphone with noise cancellation.

The Zenfone 3 Max (ZC520TL) variant too has a metal unibody design and features a smaller 5.2-inch HD (720p) 2.5D curved glass display and is powered by 1.25GHz Quad-Core MediaTek MT6737T processor. It comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up-to another 32GB via microSD card.

On the camera front, there is a 13-megapixel primary camera with dual LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The Zenfone 3 Max (ZC520TL) measures 149.5×73.7×8.55mm and weighs 148 grams. Rest of the specifications of this variant are identical to the above listed larger variant (Zenfone 3 Max (ZC553KL)).
