Asus releases teaser video for Zennovation event

The Zenfone AR and Zenfone 3 Zoom smartphones are expected to be unveiled at the event.

Taiwanese company Asus is all set to hold its event in Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in January next year. The Asus event is named as Zennovation for which the company has even sent out the press invites. Now the company has released a video teaser showing what to be expected from the event. Asus has already announced the event on its official website and has started a countdown through a dedicated web page which will end on January 4. The event will start at 11:30am on January 4, 2017, in Caesars Palace, Las Vegas.

The 38 second video is titled “Explore The Unknown” and it shows an outline of two mystery smartphones which means Asus can unveil more than one smartphone. The first one in the video shows the alphabet A without the line in the middle and the second one shows an infinity symbol. The video ends with a galaxy forming an eye in the dark background. It is however still not known how many devices, the company would be unveiling at the CES event.

The image of the phone showing alphabet A can be the Zenfone AR smartphone which the Asus chairman, Jerry Shen revealed sometime back that the company will be unveiling its first smartphone that supports the requirements of Project Tango Google through Augmented Reality at the CES event. He further confirmed that the Zenfone AR will come with improved functionality and high performance at the competitive price. For those who are unaware, Tango is a technology platform developed and authored by Google that uses computer vision to enable mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, to detect their position relative to the world around them without using or other external signals.

The second image which is bearing the symbol of infinity is expected to be the ZenFone 3 Zoom as the symbol can hint at two rear cameras. The Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom was spotted online earlier this month with dual rear camera set up on Chinese certification agency, TENAA and on FCC certification site also.

As per the TENAA listing, the Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom has a 5.5 inch full display with 1080×1920 resolution, a 2.0 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor with Adreno 506 and 2GB RAM. The smartphone is listed on TENAA in three variants – 2GB, 3GB, and 4GB RAM with 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB of internal storage respectively with an expandable memory via microsd card. It offers an 16-megapixel dual rear camera setup with dual LED flash, and a laser-focus, a 13-megapixel front camera and a 4850 battery. The device also features a fingerprint scanner on the rear side.

The phone runs on 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system and the images reveal that it has Black, Silver, and Gold colour versions. Connectivity options of the device include dual SIM, 4G-LTE with VoLTE, 4.0, WiFi, GPS/A-GPS and a micro USB. The phone is 154.3 mm tall, 77 mm wide and 7.99 mm thin and it weighs 170 grams, according to the TENAA listing.
