Amazon and Flipkart are back with their much hyped sales and are bang on time – just before the Diwali. Apart from lucrative deals and discounts, a noteworthy feature of this year’s sales on Amazon and Flipkart are their exchange offers.
The e-retailers are allowing buyers to trade in their old smartphones for new ones (the offer is available on computers and laptops as well). Ofcourse this is a heck of a deal that most cannot ignore.
Smartphones especially have low life span and with each day their resale value decreases significantly. So it makes sense to exchange or sell them before they become useless. Also, with technology changing at a faster pace, especially when it comes to smartphones, a year old smartphone usually look quite outdated and pale in front of their new peers.
However, are Flipkart and Amazon offering the best value for your old gadgets?
For instance, on Lenovo Vibe Shot Flipkart and Amazon are offering Rs 3,500 and Rs 3,465 respectively. On the other hand, Cashify – which offers cash for old gadgets – is offering as much as Rs 6,700 for Lenovo Vibe Shot even without original box, charger, earphone and bill. If you include these four things, its price shoot up to about Rs 8,000.
We have discovered such differences in price for various other devices as well. And you should not be surprised to see it either. Flipkart and Amazon like e-retailers are not involved in the refurbishing business. Instead, they act as a mediator for businesses like Cashify who use the platform of the e-retailers to get more old gadgets. So it is natural for the e-retailers to charge some amount of money for facilitating another company’s business.
Ofcourse, e-retailers should be commended for the same for encouraging people to discard their old gadgets some of which gets recycled and materials recovered from them can be used for making new ones.
We too urge you recycle your old devices and exchange them if you are getting good price but before that check the offered price from 2-3 retailers and from sites like Cashify, ReGlobe etc.
