For those who are not aware, Dial an Uber lets you book a cab even if you don't have Uber app installed on your device. In other words, rides can be requested from mobile phone browsers even with low or poor network connectivity, claims the famous cab service.
Just to brief out the working of this new feature, here is the step by step guide.
Step 1: Open the browser on your mobile phone and go to dial.uber.com. It will ask you to enter your mobile number for registration.
Step 2: If you are already registered on Uber, you will be asked to Sign In or else you will have to Sign Up.
Step 3: After Signing In/Up you will get a prompt message asking you to give certain permission to enhance the booking process as well the ride experience.
Step 4: Next screen will show you the nearest Uber cab from your location and you get the option to book a ride.
Step 5: As soon as you book a ride, you will be connected to your nearest Uber and you can then inform the destination location and get the estimated fare. This is because in the browser there are no GPS permissions obtained so one has to directly inform it to the driver.
Step 6: Once the trip is completed, you can pay only by cash, as no mode of payment is supported currently. Also, all the cancellation charges remain same as it is on the app.
Dial an Uber can be really useful for emergency situations where one doesn't have the app installed and wants to book the cap quickly. We haven't tested this feature yet but given the reputation Uber has, this feature is bound to be trouble proof and good on functionality.
