The update brings emergency calling feature in India.
OnePlus has rolled out the OxygenOS 3.2.8 update for the OnePlus 3 smartphone. The update will bring major security improvements and bug fixes to the device. The update is currently being rolled out via OTA (over-the-air) and will reach to all OnePlus 3 users globally soon.
OnePlus said in a forum post "The OTA will reach a small percentage of users today, and we'll begin a broader rollout in a few days". The users can also manually check for software by going to Settings >> About Phone >> System Updates >> check for the new firmware.
The OxygenOS 3.2.8 update brings support for 1080p video recording at 60fps and emergency call feature for India. This feature will activate SOS calling by rapidly pressing the power button three times after the update.
The update also brings optimisation for Snapchat to fix the video calling and lags in scrolling. Moreover, the update will result in improved system stability and general bug fixes.
Just to recall, the OnePlus 3 was launched in India for Rs 27,999 in June this year. It has a 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED capacitive touchscreen that has full HD resolution. Just below the screen lies a home button which also acts as a fingerprint sensor. It has Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system based Oxygen OS. The OnePlus 3 has the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor, Adreno 530 GPU and huge 6 GB RAM.
There is a 3000 mAh Li-Po non-removable battery which has state-of-the-art Dash Charge technology that claims to replenish over 60 per cent of the battery within 30 minutes. OnePlus 3 boasts a16 megapixel rear camera with f2.0 aperture, 1.12 µm Pixels, phase detection autofocus feature and Optical Image Stabilisation. An 8-megapixel camera is there in its front for selfies.
The all-metal OnePlus 3 is just 7.3 mm thin and comes with an alert slider key as well. Besides, it has dual SIM, GPS, WiFi, WiFi Hotspot, Bluetooth, Hall sensor, Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, and eCompass.
The update brings in a bunch of fixes with possible workarounds for PlayStore download issue.
However, the official opening of the store for the public will happen tomorrow i.e. 7th January at 2 PM.
Note that the list includes both Nougat specific and OnePlus specific features. Also, all of these features are common to OnePlus 3T as well.
Till now only Gunmetal variant of OnePlus 3T is available for purchase in India.
Up till now, OnePlus use to sell its products exclusively via Amazon in India.
As per the complaints, many users claimed that the network on their OnePlus 2 after the update use to drop abnormally.
Apart from Android Nougat, this new update also brings Oxygen OS 4.0 which will be visually a little different if you are a OnePlus 3 user running OxygenOS 3.2.8 or less.
On the other hand, the company has also rolled out OxygenOS beta 9 for the OnePlus 3.
The smartphone was available for Amazon Prime members on 12th December.
