Huawei Mate 9, Mate 9 Pro and Mate 9 Porsche Edition launched in China

Apart from Mate 9 and Mate 9 Porsche Edition, the company also launched the earlier rumoured Mate 9 Pro with curved display.

Earlier this month, Huawei launched the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Porsche Edition in Munich, Germany, close to Porsche's headquarters, Stuttgart. While Mate 9 is Huawei's flagship for the Mate series, the Porsche Edition is what Mate 9 Pro was rumoured to be with the Porsche branding on it. In China today, the company, in addition to Mate 9 and Porsche Edition, also launched the Mate 9 Pro. While the Mate 9 Pro starts at CNY 4,699 (approx. 46,500) for 4GB variant and CNY 5,299 (approx. Rs 52,400), the Porsche Edition is priced at CNY 8,999 (Rs 89,000) making the Mate 9 Pro much affordable with same specifications.

Coming to the specifications, Huawei Mate 9 Pro just like the Mate 9 Porsche Edition comes with a 5.5 inch QHD (2560 x 1440) curved AMOLED display. On the inside, it boasts Huawei's new Kirin 960 64-bit octa-core processor coupled with Mali-G71 MP8 GPU. The phone comes in two storage options 64GB with 4GB RAM and 128GB with 6GB RAM. For the camera, Mate 9 Pro with dual-camera set up one being a 12-megapixel sensor and the other one being a 20-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture, OIS, 2x zoom, Leica optics, phase detection & laser autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) Flash. At the front, there is an 8-megapixel shooter with f/1.9 aperture and 1080p video recording capabilities. To power it all, there is a 4000 mAh battery. Surprisingly, the device comes with Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the box with Huawei's Emotion UI 5.0 on top which the company claims to be extremely intelligent with an ability to learn the usage habits with time.

The Mate 9 is essentially the same device except it comes with a 5.9 inch regular non-curved display. On the other hand, the Mate 9 Porsche Edition as mentioned before is the same design except the Porsche Branding.

The availability of the Mate 9 Pro is still a mystery as it has only been launched in China and not globally. If this happens, it would be a really interesting development as the Mate 9 Pro is a phone which can actually replace Samsung's Galaxy Note 7.
