Apple is expected to launch two new iPad Pro variants and a new Bezel-less iPad in March 2017.
According to the latest report from MacRumours, Apple will launch the next generation iPad Pro in March 2017. The company is expected to launch three variants - 10.9 inch bezel-less display variant, 12.9 inch iPad Pro and 9.7 inch iPad Pro. The report has allegedly come from Barclays Research analysts who got the data from Asia supply chain sources. If we collect previous rumours, the next iPhone i.e. iPhone 8 is also expected to come with bezel-less curved display, so 2017 might be the year of curved bezel-less devices.
Further, 10.9 inch variant being bezel-less would mean that the overall device size of both 10.9 inch and 9.7 inch variants will be same. The 10.9 inch new iPad will mark the start of new iPad series. Also, a report from Macotakara claims that the Pro series will come with quad-microphones and would retain the 3.5 mm headphone jack. The 12.9 inch iPad Pro will also come with 12 megapixel camera with dual-tone LED flash. Unfortunately, Apple won't be upgrading the iPad Mini lineup but would still continue to sell iPad mini 4. Moreover, the 9.7 inch iPad Pro will come with the lowest price tag and will not sport premium specifications, claims PhoneArena. AppleInsider further reports that the 12.9 inch Pro variant and the 10.9 inch Bezel-less variant will boast Apple's A10X chip by Taiwan's TSMC.
The big change in display technology i.e. including OLED displays would happen in 2018, according to Ming-Chi-Kuo and given the sales of Apple products are already going down, 2017 will not be an easy year for Apple at least in terms of sales. Tablets have not been recent favorites with continuous decrease in sales and market share, as people today prefer a bigger smartphone rather than a smaller tablet. It will be interesting to see how Apple deals with this situation. The bezel-less tablet seems like an interesting idea but the risk of breaking it further increase with the increase in the size.
