Android Nougat finally appears on Google's OS distribution chart

In the latest numbers, Android Nougat has finally made its way with 0.3 percent of share. Android Marshmallow surprisingly saw an increase of over 5% from 18.7 percent in September to 24 percent currently.

Google skipped the Android Distribution update for October and released it today showing the data collected during a 7-day period ending November 7th, 2016.

Android Kitkat (4.4) though retains the maximum share but has lost about 2.5% with a current market share of 25.2 per cent compared to 27.7 in last released data by Google. Going further back, Jelly bean holds a total of 13.7 percent share followed by Ice Cream Sandwich and Gingerbread at 1.3 per cent each. And Yes, Android Froyo still runs on about 0.1 percent of Android smartphones.

Interestingly, Android Nougat takes up the same percentage as Marshmallow in November 2015. However, Marshmallow was released with Nexus 6P in October 2015 whereas, this year Google released Android 7.0 Nougat well before it unveiled its Pixel devices. On August 22, 2016 to be precise which indicates not so impressive adoption figures for Android Nougat so far.

Regarding the screen sizes and densities charts, Normal size takes up the majority of share at 87.9 percent with hdpi having the maximum share (39.4%) in terms of density.

Jumping to the Open GL Version, v2.0 stands top with 43.1% of the total distribution followed by v3.0 at 42.2% and v3.1 at 14.7%.

Contrary to this, last month, Apple boasted that about 60 percent of Apple devices are already running on iOS 10 indicating an increase of 6 per cent compared to last year.
