Google to add a transparent sub-widget under the Google Search widget

As of now, the update is only for the beta version of app and is currently being tested by the users under beta program.

Google Now Launcher seems to have got a new update but don't get too excited. The update is only for the beta version of app and is currently being tested by the users under beta program. So if you are using the stable version, you will have to wait until the testing is complete and Google implements this feature in the stable version.

Worry not though, one can join the beta program by just going to the Play Store > Search for Google app > Scroll down and find the option to join beta program and Voila! you are part of the Google's beta program now.

In the new update, Google has included a sub-widget under the primary Google Search widget. This sub-widget shows some extra details in a transparent tile. As of now, this sub-widget can show you ETA for your next commute, Weather for your place and some other information. The new update comes with the version 'Google Search beta v6.6.14.21'. Also the sub-widget can be removed either by just swiping or pressing the 'X' symbol on the right. To turn on this new sub-widget, one has to navigate to settings of the app and find the widget option. However, not every one is able to find the widget option just yet.

This is majorly due to Google App's functionality being server-based. So, Google is actually taking a lot of time to roll out this feature to every beta user. On the other hand, it may depend on your Google Cards which are just customised for cards which haven't been up for the sub-widget option. So, in some cases even after enabling the widget option one might not see the transparent sub-widget.
