Samsung Galaxy A8 (2016) is now official

The Galaxy A8 (2016) takes a lot from its predecessor in terms of design and now comes with slim and flush metal uni-body design.

Samsung Galaxy A8 (2016) has been in the rumours since couple of weeks now and today Samsung put all speculations to rest by launching it in South Korea.

The Galaxy A8 (2016) takes a lot from its predecessor in terms of design and now comes with slim and flush metal uni-body design. Up front, there is a 5.7 inch 1080p AMOLED display. Underneath the hood, the device is powered by Samsung's own Octa-Core Exynos 7420 chipset of which four are Cortex-A53 and four are Cortex-A57. All the cores are built on 14nm process.

In the camera department, this year's Galaxy A8 sports a 16 megapixel primary camera and an 8 megapixel front-facing camera. Though there haven't been any details about the sensors and aperture etc. but reports suggests that it is likely to have the same sensor which is there in Samsung Galaxy S6. The handset runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box with Grace UI on top. The front home button features a fingerprint scanner and there is also an Always On Display feature. It has a 3300 mAh battery which Samsung claims can last a day easily.

As of now, the device has only be launched in Samsung's home market i.e. South Korea at a price of 649,000 Won which is about Rs 39,259. The device will be available for pre-order in blue colour starting tomorrow exclusively from SK Telecom. There is no information if Samsung plans to introduce this device to other markets.

Meanwhile, Samsung has yet again delayed the launch of its Galaxy Note 7 in India. Hopefully, it will bring it to India this festive season itself, but Apple isn't complaining for sure.
