Samsung to further delay Galaxy Note 7 launch in India

This decision was reportedly taken by the company on Wednesday, according to Economic Times.

Following the global recall, Samsung has further delayed the official launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 in India which would mean that Apple would gladly take the advantage with the festive season approaching. This decision was reportedly taken by the company on Wednesday, according to Economic Times.

According to the report, Samsung wants to first ensure that all the 2.5 million devices which have already been sold worldover are successfully recalled. Post that the company will officially launch the Note 7 in markets such as India. Samsung has already re-launched the product in the US and South Korea and is soon the safe units will arrive in countries like Australia, Singapore etc.

Samsung has been delaying the launch in India for quite a while now but recent reports now suggest that it will launch the new Note 7 just before Diwali. While another executive said that the launch might be delayed beyond Diwali as well. So there is still a bit confusion about the actual launch of the device. The company claims that till now about 60% of devices have been returned by the consumers.

This delay in the official launch will surely benefit Samsung's arch rival Apple. A recent research from Counterpoint Research revealed that about 850,000 iPhones were sold in October-December last year and this year with the delay in Galaxy Note 7 launch and due to all the havoc pertaining to the global recall, Apple is expected to touch that 1 million units mark. The last quarter is generally considered the most valuable for smartphone manufacturers as a lot of people tend to buy the products in this period. However, Apple is already facing shortage in supplies for the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus so it will be interesting too see how it manages to take this advantage.
