DataWind, which is known for its Aakash tablet and UbiSlate tablets, today announced its first 4G tablet, MoreGmax 4G7. The Datawind MoreGmax 4G7 is priced at Rs 5,999. The tablet will be available at retail counters as well as the company's website www.datawind.com.
Commenting on the launch Suneet Singh Tuli, chief executive officer, DataWind, said, "With a goal to connect and empower the forgotten billions, we are dedicated to drive 4G implementation in India. The Datawind MoreGmax 4G7 comes with a 7 inch multi-touch capacitive screen with 1024 x 600 pixels resolution, 0.3 megapixel front camera and a 3 megapixel rear camera. The tablet has Android 5.1 Lollipop operating System and runs on a quad core Cortex A7 processor with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal memeory. In addition, it offers upto 32GB of expandable memory with voice calling facility and features like WiFi Hotspot, WiFi Direct, Bluetooth and GPS.
In a press release, DataWind said that the tablet come bundled with the "free internet connection, at no additional cost on the Reliance Communications network for 1 year”.
Suneet Singh Tuli further added, "The majority of the population in India still is not connected to the Internet. Affordable devices, alone, cannot help the masses to be connected. The tablet offers voice calling functionality as well.
However free-access to internet does not include audio/video streaming or local-downloads.
As per the company, the tablet users can avail free internet browsing for one year through RCom and Telenor network's prepaid GSM SIM card.
Datawind's PocketSurfer 2G4 is priced at Rs 1,999 while PockerSurfer 3G4 costs Rs 2,999 and PockerSurfer 3G5 carries a price tag of Rs 5,499.
UbiSlate10Ci is a 10.1 inch Wifi tablet. It is based on Android 4.4.2 operating system and runs on 1.1 GHz dual core processor.
The smartphone is expected to come with Android operating system and a 3.5 inch screen.
Known as Datawind Ubislate 7C+ Edge, it comes with 7 inch display, Android 4.0 and SIM support with calling.
Available across different price points the new tablets offer great functionality with control over budget as well.
