Apart from the operating system, the update brings performance and user interface optimisations as well.
Sony Mobile has started rolling out a new software update that bundles the Android 4.4 KitKat version along with several improvements. The new Android 4.4 KitKat update caters to the Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z1 Ultra models. Sony has commenced the roll out and it will take place in phase manner so Indian consumers will have to wait for couple of weeks from now.
Sony Mobile in a blogpost clarifies that the Google Android 4.4 KitKat bundled in the software update brings performance and user interface optimisations. Sony has tweaked the Quick Settings menu and Status bar, making them easily customisable. Sony has also bundled downloadable User Interface tweaking packs from the Sony Select app to choose different Xperia Themes for the smartphones.
The software update also improves and tweaks the native Sony packaged apps such as MyXperia, Smart Connect, TrackID, Smart Social and others. Sony has added Sony Entertainment Network and PlayMemories cloud service integration for the WALKMAN, Album, and Movies app. System-wide performance tweaks would be implemented post update.
Sony Mobile also promises to release Android 4.4 KitKat update for Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, and Xperia Tablet Z in coming few months. In second half of this year, Sony plans to release the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Xperia T2 Ultra, Xperia E1 and Xperia M2 devices.
On the back panel, it has a 21.5-megapixel shooter with Exmor RS sensor, and LED flash.
The newly launched products will be available exclusively on Flipkart from 15th July and in Sony Center and major electronic stores from 15th August.
The device has a reversible plug orientation enabling users to transfer files between devices with Type C and Type A port.
Sony Xperia X will be available from June 6 while the Xperia XA will be available from the third week of June.
