Currently 3G data plans are mercilessly costly and there are few takers of 3G in reality. How can operators get back their huge investments on 3G?

Very true that 3G plans are still out of reach for many. Also do we really need 3G, i have never felt the need for 3G. I get very good speed on my mobile from 2G only. Also i have broadband at home. Now how will they cover up investment. Thats more of a technical question, the operators would have themselves thought about it at the time of auctioning. My opinion is by getting more number of 3G subscribers. and to get more number they have to lower tariff. You tell me why would i make a (video)call for Rs. 3-5 when i can talk for a minute in just 30p(MTS). So tough i make it at times, the quality is not that fulfilling, i do it for fun. i even use Voice SMS for fun but not hamesha. So they need to reduce tariffs a bit so that more numbers they get and in turn may breakeven some time from 3G operations.

when the costs are less there will be increase in number of customers, so there will be more profits.
