Both the devices share a lot of specifications and come as close as it can get but one has to be the winner, read through the comparison to find out.
After much anticipation, Lenovo has finally launched the Phab 2 Plus today in India at Rs 14,999. The device will be available on Amazon in Gold and Grey colour variants. Launching at this price, Lenovo seems to be targeting Xiaomi's Mi Max which is also available at Rs 14,999. As a matter of fact, let's compare these two devices and see how the new Phab 2 Plus take on the Mi Max. Note, this comparison is entirely based on the spec sheet.

Xiaomi Mi Max launched for Rs 14,999
Design and Display
A metal uni-body design has become sort of mandatory in smartphones these days irrespective of their price. Same is the case here. Both Lenovo Phab 2 Plus and Xiaomi Mi Max come with a metal uni-body design. Xiaomi Mi Max's design can be summarised as a bumped up version of Redmi Note 3. On the other hand, Phab 2 Plus comes with a new design when compared to the original Phab.
Lenovo Phab 2 measures at 17.4 x 0.55 x 8.8 cm and weighs 218 grams. While Mi Max measures at 17.3 x 0.75 x 8.8 cm and weighs 203 grams.
Both the devices share the same display size as well at 6.4 inches with a resolution 1080 x 1920 pixels. The Lenovo Phab 2 Plus comes with a 2.5D Curved Glass display.
There is not much to choose her as both the devices are almost identical in terms of design and display.
Performance and Memory
Moving on to the performance, things change a little bit especially with the processors being manufactured by different companies. While Lenovo Phab 2 Plus is powered by a 1.3 GHz octa-core MediaTek (MT8783) processor, Xiaomi's Mi Max sports a 1.8GHz 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 Cortex A72 A53 hexacore processor. Both the devices come with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage which is further expandable up to 256GB in the case of Xiaomi Mi Max and up to 128GB in the case of Phab 2 Plus. Further, both the devices come with a hybrid Dual SIM Slot which means you can either put in two SIM card or a SIM Card + micro SD card. Both the devices run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with their custom UI on top.
In the camera department, Mi Max sports a higher resolution primary camera while Phab 2 Plus sports a higher resolution front camera. To be precise, Xiaomi Mi Max features a 16 megapixel rear-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone LED flash, HDR etc. The rear camera is capable of recording 2160p video at 30fps and offers 120fps slow-motion video at 720p. The front camera is a 5-megapixel shooter with the same f/2.0 aperture.
On the other hand, Lenovo Phab 2 Plus flaunts a Dual 13-megapixel auto-laser camera setup with Dual tone LED Flash on its back panel and an 8-megapixel selfie camera with a f/2.2 aperture on the front panel.
Lenovo Phab 2 certainly has a dual-camera set up which is where we think it might shine. The Phab 2 Plus does have a lower resolution camera but in our opinion, the difference in the detail depends a lot on post processing as well.

Battery and Connectivity
The battery is another department where both these phablets shine but Mi Max takes the win here with its massive 4850 mAh battery. On the other hand, the Phab 2 Plus also house a respectable 4050 mAh battery which Lenovo claims can deliver up to 23 hours of talk time and up to 17 days of standby time.
For connectivity, both the devices come with 4G with VoLTE, WiFi (802.11 802.11 a/b/g/n), WiFi Hotspot, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 (Phab 2 Plus) and Bluetooth v4.2 (Mi Max), GPS etc.
To choose between these two is hard as it can get. Both the devices share a lot of specifications except the processor and battery. If you are in for performance then we would recommend Xiaomi's Mi Max mainly because of the reputation of Qualcomm processors being better at performance and battery management. On the other hand, if photography is your forte then Phab 2 Plus should perform better because the dual-camera will help it produce better dynamic range. Nevertheless, the decision between these two is entirely based on personal preference so we ask you. Comment in the section below and let us know which of these two is a winner according to you.
