LeEco Le 1s vs Panasonic Eluga Turbo

Both the LeEco Le 1s and Panasonic Eluga Turbo look quite impressive at Rs 10,999.

Last week, LeEco entered the Indian market with the Le 1s. It is priced at Rs 10,999 and has terrific features. Meanwhile Panasonic has launched its Eluga Turbo in India at Rs 10,999.

So let’s check out which one of these is the better phone at the price tag.

Design

The LeEco Le 1s has a metal unibody. As per the company, it is among few phones which offer screw-less unibody. The Le1s indeed looks superb in its metal body. Some years back it was unimaginable for such a low cost phone to come with such a gorgeous metal body. Even today, there aren’t any phone in this price tag with such a metal body.

Due to its metal body, the Le1S not only feels aristocratic and beautiful, it feels tough and would certainly outlast its plastic counterpart. The phone’s design gives a feeling that it has zero bezel (right and left hand side of the display) but when you switch it on, you will see that it isn’t truly bezel less but has very thin bezel.

There is a mirror-finished fingerprint sensor on its back panel while the SIM tray is on its left hand side. The power and volume keys are on its right hand side. It has got a microphone on its back panel for noise cancellation while two speaker grills are at its bottom panel. It comes with USB Type C port. The Le1s measures 151.1 x 74.2 x 7.5 mm and weighs 169 grams.

The Panasonic Eluga Turbo, on the other hand, comes with glass finishing. While its front display is protected by 3, the rear panel has Asahi Dragontrail Glass coating. It measures 142.4 x 71.2 x 6.95 mm. It has metal side panels.

Both are quite gorgeous phones, but Le1s feels a bit better owing to its metal body while the Eluga Turbo is comparatively a bit delicate.

Display

The Panasonic Eluga Turbo has a 5 inch IPS display, which has high definition thus offering of 267 ppi. The LeEco Le 1s too has a 5.5 inch IPS display with full resolution and thus offers higher 401 ppi pixel density. The Le 1s’ display also has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 as Eluga Turbo.

Processor & Memory

The LeEco Le 1s is armed with the octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 Turbo processor, clocked at 2.2 GHz. The phone runs with 3 GB, and has 32 of internal storage (non-expandable).

The Panasonic Eluga Turbo is armed with a 1.5 GHz octa-core and also offers 3 GB of RAM. The Panasonic Eluga Turbo has 32 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded by another 32 GB via a micro card.

The LeEco Le 1s is armed with MediaTek’s flagship processor which means it’ll come out ahead in any bench test or real world scenario, however it does lack external storage.

Software

The Panasonic Eluga Turbo runs on Lollipop 5.1, and has Panasonic FitHome UI. The LeEco Le 1s runs on Android Lollipop 5.1, and has LeEco’s EUI 5.5. We are yet to review the phones, so cannot at this point of time comment on their UI.

Battery

The LeEco Le 1s has a 3000 battery (with quick charge). The Panasonic Eluga Turbo has a 2350 mAh battery. The LeEco Le 1s is the winner of this round purely on size, as it is larger by 650 mAh.

Camera

The Panasonic Eluga Turbo has a 13 auto focus rear camera that comes with flash and allows full HD video recording. In the front of the Panasonic Eluga Turbo lies a 5 megapixel selfie taker.

The LeEco Le 1s also has a 13 megapixel rear camera which comes with phase detection auto focus (as per the company it can focus in just 0.09 seconds), f/2.0 aperture, and it too can record 1080p videos. The Le 1s also has a 5 megapixel front camera that has 85 degree lens.

On paper, this round is a draw, as both the phones have similar specs.

Connectivity

The LeEco Le 1s is a phone with 4G, GPS (A-GPS), 4.0, WiFi, and USB C too. The Panasonic Eluga Turbo too is a dual SIM phone with GPS (A-GPS), Bluetooth 4.0, and WiFi.

Wrapping Up

The LeEco Le 1s is the better looking phone and it has the best processor from the MediaTek line-up as well as huge 3 GB of RAM. However unlike Panasonic Eluga Turbo, it lacks expandable storage. So if you are okay with the storage, than Le 1s certainly seems a better phone than the Eluga Turbo. However, few aspects of the phones like camera output and battery back up needed further exploration.
